Orlando Roberts, Roberts Farms
Orlando Roberts grew up row crop farming with his father and grandfather. Roberts Farm produces hay, grass seed, small grains, watermelon, and honey and offer crop pollination. Orlando’s wife, Kassandra, helps with honey production by bottling and selling it.
Orlando strives to protect local and natural resources through grid soil sampling, GPS technology, applying fertilizer judiciously and using drip tape to conserve water. To reduce topsoil erosion, Orlando uses cover crops and rows of trees to protect crops from the wind. Orlando implements BMPs so that he can protect the land and ensure future generations can enjoy earth’s natural resources.
Orlando and his wife are active in their church and are members of Gilchrist County Farm Bureau.
