Wesley Wainwright, Wainwright Farms

Wainwright Farms was founded in 1974 with 160 acres of land and has grown to 700 acres of land that is home to poultry houses, beef cattle and hay. Wesley Wainwright, along with his wife Pam and his father, have run the family farm since 2008.

Wesley implements BMPs to conserve and maintain their farmland to pass on to future generations. He partnered with the Suwannee River Management District and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for many years and was one of the first farms in the poultry industry to install a composting structure in 1988. Along with composting, Wainwright Farms utilizes manure management, mortality management, soil testing and prescribed grazing.

In his community, Wesley serves on the Suwannee County Fair Board, the local extension advisory board, rotary club, and he served two terms as a Suwannee County Commissioner. Wesley views all of his involvement as a way for him to advocate for agriculture to people in his community.
